Глава испанского внешнеполитического ведомства Жозеп Боррель заявил, что российская сторона вернулась на международную арену и хочет снова стать великой державой. Об этом министр сказал в интервью изданию El Pais.

P. And Russia? Is this government going to maintain the previous position on sanctions or will they weigh more issues such as energy or tourism?

R. Like it or not, Russia is back. Putin has an enormous popularity because it represents the return to the international scene of a humiliated country, of an old great power that wants to exercise again. And yes, it has the nuclear weapon. But it has the GDP of Italy, and its defense budget is 60,000 million; against the 900,000 of NATO. Even so, Moscow has the capacity to influence conflicts in our environment. There is a common European position on Russia; Spain will not be harder. But that does not mean that we have to forget the problems it causes our allies and partners: that is why, among other things, Spain participates in the Baltic military deployment.
